Arabella is a name of uncertain origin.
Source 1 - Arabella comes from the Latin word orabilis, "yielding to prayer," as in 'God, please don't let the dog pee on the floor again.'
Source 2 - Arabella may comes from a corruption of the name Annabella, which in turn may be a corruption of Amabel, "loveable" from Latin amabilis. You can't argue with that irreproachable logic. As Jennifer says: she is pretty cute.

Source 3 - Arabella may come from Arnhilda, a Germanic name meaning "eagle battle maid." I don't know if those moldy German legends had the gods fighting alongside their brave little maltese, but I could readily believe it. She's a spunky little warrior.

Source 4 - A Dutch source lists Arabella as meaning "little Arab." She is cunning and intelligent. I strongly suspect her of being a Princeton girl.

Source 5 - Arabella may come from Latin ara+ bellus, "beautiful altar." What significance that may impart, I have no idea. You never know what crazy ideas those Romans might get.

Source 6 - Jennifer says Arabella comes from the character Arabella Figg in the Harry Potter stories. Now that's just plain silly.
Take your pick!
There are a few things you should know about me.
First, I am a maltese. Not a maltese-poodle. Not a shi tzu. Not a boxer. Not a terrier. Definitely not a lopso-apso. If you mistake me for one of these things, you'll find out how sharp my teeth can be.
My favorite foods are:

I am always happy to receive these items presented on a silver platter, but I would receive them graciously when served on any medium. Its the thought that counts.
On a parenthetical side-note, I am at odds with my family, muscially speaking. Gryffindor & Crookshanks are brass bound conservatives, and you can not reason with them. Crookshanks will not have his cat-like faith in Vivaldi shaken, and that damn dog only knows Mozart, Mozart, Mozart. That's fine if endless accompagnato and stromentato and fat, wailing Italian sopranos are your thing. Being a modern girl, I prefer my music to have a hip-hop beat.
[Here we see Maria Anna, Wolfgang, Leopold, and Louisa Mozart. Louisa, my great-great-great-great grand mother was a maltese in the Mozart home and is said to have inspired Pamina in "The Magic Flute." I am such a disappointment to my forbears!]
I don't like my collar. It is uncomfortable, but I wear it without fuss because a girl must always show grace even in the most adverse conditions. Also, you should know that I am a city girl and I am one year old.
I have had a busy day. Pardon me if I take a nap.
